This kid rocks
I’ve never been an early adopter of technology, especially when it comes to Apple products. I don’t own an iPhone (I refuse to pay for the very expensive cell plan). I’m not crazy about buying applications and I’ve never bought into being locked into an Operating System only to use 1 killer app for all (iTunes). Do I own a MacBook? Well yes (/shrug) …work supplies it. Do I love it? More than a PC as OS X is a so much better than Vista or Windows 7 (but not XP ;-P for office daily use).
I think that the iPad is a great idea, but I forsee other “eReader” devices coming out in the near future that will be cheaper, just a big and with more customizable features. Not to mention that there are still a load of kinks to work out in terms of how you get your data and how much you’ll pay for that data. Personally, I still love to read a book, but that’s just me. However, I do see a market for the iPad for businesses as well as for mom and dad. I think the “older” market is going to drive the market share for the iPad as most will say “look honey, I can make the font bigger and boy is it easier to read than those small words on my book”.
I agree with the gentleman in the article. I.E. just get a new mobile device and use a “free app” for your reading pleasure. It’s that easy and much less expensive.
I’m personally waiting for the next generation Motorola Droid (hopefully with a better keyboard or none at all) and NOT an HTC phone as they feel cheap and breakable. I’m also waiting for VOIP over cell service, a phone that also works as my router and an Internet TV that would connect wirelessly to it. Yes, no more cable provider bills. Now THAT would be something I’d be interested in. Any takers?
I actually remember all the steps from this very educational video.
