danwade is a multimedia artist based in New Jersey who works with DV film, digital prints, animated gifs and websites. He currently owns and maintains www.danwade.com where most of his work can be accessed online. Ongoing projects include “realization 1”, which is an experiment in translating aspects of the human body to animated gifs and a series of short films that have been described as humorous and/or progressive. Influences include Laurie Anderson, Chuck Close and Tim Hawkinson.

danwade has always explored the possibilities in interactive art beginning in high school when he worked with the INTERARTS residency program at the Summer Arts Institute organization. Under the direction of Maureen Heffernan and Darrel Wilson, he experimented with an ensemble of artists in creating interactive art on multiple levels with performance, media and traditional art forms. This was one of the first milestones in his artistic development as a multimedia artist that is prevalent in his work today.

He went to study at Rutgers, Mason Gross School of the Arts Professional Actor Training Program in New Brunswick with Bill Esper and Maggie Flannigan. In 1993, he performed at Edinburgh’s Theater Fringe Festival in Scotland with the Shoe String Players. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Arts in 1995.

After college, danwade pursued an acting career in NYC where he performed in independent films and various performance projects. His interests in technology propelled him into the dotcom industry where he was able to experiement and evolve as an artist creatively and electronically. He has worked with several NYC multimedia companies including Conde Nast Publications, Razorfish and Warner Bros.
